「そういえばこの前、ニノから電話があったんだよ。何日かずっと会ってなかったんだけど、夜中の１時ごろに突然電話がかかってきてさ。でも眠かったから、『ゴメン、寝るわ』って切ったんだよね。そしたらまたすぐに電話がかかってきたんだけど、『明日電話するから』って切ったの。で、次の日の朝起きたら、『そうだ、今日、ニノの誕生日じゃん』って気づいてさ、ちゃんとメール打って、そのあと電話したよ。いや、忘れたわけじゃないんだって。プレゼントの絵も描いてあったしね」

“Speaking of, I got a call from Nino the other day.  We hadn’t met for a few days, but I suddenly got a call from him at like one am.  But I was sleepy so I said, ‘Sorry, I’m gonna sleep’ and hung up.  Then he called again right away, but I said, ‘I’ll call you in the morning!’ and hung up.  Then the next morning when I woke up I realized, ‘That’s right, today’s Nino’s birthday!’ so I sent him a proper text and called him later.  No, it’s not that I forgot! I even had his present drawn already!”
